What is a skillshare?
Skillshares are a fairly new concept to BConnected—it’s where we teach each other cool things and support our community members. Sharing knowledge is a vital part of a healthy community; learn more about the concept here. Sam has been a part of BConnected for years and is excited to share their self-defense SKILLZ with you in their Queer Self-Defense Seminar in Denver. 💪🏼 👊🏾 🙌🏽 🤼
Who is this event for: Anyone under the LGBTQAI+ rainbow who is curious about self-defense. Allies are welcome if they are accompanied by their Queer person.

Have you always wanted to learn basic self-defense? Do you want to get a little sweaty and boost your cardio? Join us for a queer-friendly, trans-friendly self-defense seminar that promises to be both fun and practical! Led by brown belt jiujitsu practitioner Sam Tynen and Muay Thai extraordinaire Three Brodsky, this session is perfect for anyone seeking to build confidence, get a great workout, and learn practical self-defense in an inclusive environment. Don’t miss this one-time-only Skillshare event!
What to bring: T-shirt, gym shorts, sports bra or tight briefs/spandex
How to find us: After you buy a ticket, we will send you the exact address. In the strip mall, you will see a sign on the north side saying “Pangea BJJ: Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone,” next to the sign that says “NatureArt.” We are inside there.
This self-defense seminar is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to everyone, regardless of fitness level or previous experience. However, due to the nature of the activities involved, please be aware of the following:
- This seminar will include physical contact with other participants, including grappling and rolling on the ground.
- You will engage in activities that may involve close physical proximity, light grabbing, and body movements to simulate self-defense scenarios.
- The session is moderate in intensity and may involve sweating and increased heart rates.
If you have any specific accessibility needs, physical limitations, or concerns about participating, please reach out to us ahead of time by direct messaging Sam Tynen on the meetup app. We are happy to provide additional details and discuss how to best accommodate your needs.
Don’t wait – spaces are limited, and we’d love to have you.
We look forward to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for everyone!
