Volunteer Opportunities

If you’re looking for LGBTQ volunteer opportunities—step right up, my friend!
🌱 Small Involvement (Super Simple & Easy):
Just a pinch – Attend events! This is HUGE. You’re fun and important and your insights and questions about the Bi/Queer experience need to be heard
A quick little 5-star validation – After an event, Meeup prompts you to give us a review. Yipee 5 stars! This really helps add credibility to our group and reassures newcomers that BConnected is a fun, welcoming space.
Take a tiny step—sign up for our newsletter! We don’t use social media much at this point, and this is the best way to stay in the loop about upcoming events, BConnected news, and community stories from the blog. Also, at some point, not soon, but someday, we’d like to move away from organizing on Meetup and have all of us living on one platform (this website). Having your email with us keeps you in our database so we can stay organized as a group without an unpredictable third party.
A dash of help – Give us a short testimonial. It doesn’t have to be long—a paragraph about what this community means to you and why you like it. Again, this really helps the people who are nervous to attend an event; it tells them that BConnected is a chill place! You can put your name on it, or keep it to your initials—player’s choice. Click here to shower us with praise.
A steady commitment – Become a sustaining member. $5 a month helps fuel the basics like Meetup fees, insurance, and website hosting, ensuring we can keep the group running smoothly. A one-time donation is great too.
A reliable friend—Help tidy up at big events. Before you leave Queers & Quiche, it makes a big difference if several helping hands take trash out, gather up empty plates or glasses, and sweep the kitchen. Thank you!!
🌷 Medium Involvement (A Little More):
A helpful hand – Volunteer to co-host an event. Reach out to Three to discuss which event you’d like to help co-host. This is a great way to support the existing host, help greet new people, and get a feel for what hosting solo involves.
A sprinkle of support – Fill out a Q&A-style interview for the blog. Shared stories are vital for a healthy and thriving community! fill out this form of question prompts, and Three will turn it into a blog article for you. If writing isn’t your thing, just do your best to answer some of the prompts, and we’ll help polish it up. You can use your name and picture or keep it to just initials—it’s your choice.
A cozy amount — Write an article for the blog.
Write a piece for the blog about your Bi/Queer experience! Community members LOVE hearing about how other people are navigating their Bi/Queer identities. 600-1200 words will suffice. Submission guidelines are here.
A generous hand—Donate something for our upcoming silent auction that will take place at our September fundraiser. We’ll be offering items for a silent auction and need donations. If you have something you can offer to the public, this is also a great way to promote your business. Or if you have a crafty item you’d like to donate that we can sell. Reach out to Three with your idea!
A hearty contribution – Fill out our community demographics survey
This info helps us understand the demographics of the community so we can better serve our members. It is confidential, and your email will not be shared. Fill out our survey.
A steady commitment – Become a sustaining member. $10-15 a month contribution helps support our roots and covers the costs of organizational materials, social event fees, and outreach, helping us create welcoming spaces for the Bi/Queer community.
🌲 Large Involvement (Big Impact):
A hands-on champion – Host an event! If you want to host an event, get in touch with Three to discuss your idea. She or Timmy will make you an event host on Meetup and walk you through all the next steps. Host something you’re excited about in your area of town as a one-time thing or an ongoing event. One of the perks of hosting is that you get to invite people into your world—your favorite park, hike, activity, or something you’re passionate about.
This is a new concept! We’ve done it a few times unofficially, but now that we’re a nonprofit, we’d like to make it a bit more structured.
A full plate – Donate your expertise. We’re a new nonprofit, and we can use advice on social media, fundraising, and outreach ideas. Meet with Three for a video call or lunch to discuss details. Even a one-hour call is helpful!
A big-hearted effort—host a Skillshare. This is a new concept! We’ve done it a few times unofficially, but now that we’re a nonprofit, we’d like to make it a bit more structured.
How a Skillshare works:
You decide on something you want to “show and tell.” It can be light and easy or rocket science—you choose. Next, you choose a date, gather supplies you’ll need, and come up with ticket prices that will cover your costs and/or knowledge you’d like to share. We can help you with this, too. You keep 75% of the revenue, and Bconnected takes 25%.
Examples: Teach people how to make pizza from scratch, a DIY terrarium, show people how to write a better resume, fix a flat tire, etc. Anything you feel confident in teaching/sharing. You can do a one-off or make it an ongoing thing. We’ll help you brainstorm the idea, get the word out, and dialogue with you before and after to make sure you feel supported.
Read more about Skillshares here.
Be a guiding force – Apply to be on the board! Help make critical decisions that impact BConnected’s direction and growth. We’re looking for a Treasurer. See the description and how to apply here.
Whether you’re sharpening existing skills or learning new ones, volunteering as a Treasurer offers valuable experience in nonprofit management, budgeting, event planning, and community leadership—skills that look great on a resume or LinkedIn.
A steady commitment – Become a sustaining member. $20-$50 a month contribution helps to grow the community and supports facilitator stipends for workshops, skillshares, and community-building programs.
If you have a volunteer idea you’d like to discuss, reach out!
